Hello! I'm Tioliah.

I'm a graphic artist with a passion for nature and simple living. If you share those passions, then my hope is to enhance your creative work with graphic resources that reflect your spirit and values.

Though I've had a fulfilling career as an ecologist and evolutionary biologist, life has other plans for me. I now find myself drawn to the creative skills that, believe it or not, I honed as a scientist: digital illustration, graphic design, data presentation, even the act of observation itself.

I take great satisfaction in combining my creative skills with my scientific sense of precision and detail. With this somewhat unconventional combination, I hope to offer you something that feels both familiar and unique.

The idea for Skara Digital Studio was seeded during respite travels I took after completing my PhD. Skara Brae is a 4000 year old Neolithic settlement in the Orkney Islands off northern Scotland. The way the ancient and the contemporary colluded in my mind there evoked complex emotions that I became fascinated with replicating artistically. The shop logo, a stone-carved motif from the site, is one of the first design elements I made while teaching myself Adobe Illustrator.

All of my work is ultimately guided by emotion, the feelings I imagine the final artworks using my resources will evoke. Rustic, down-to-earth, inspiring curiosity and awe in the natural world. The things that inspire me both as an artist and scientist.
